With a legal career spanning over 19 years, Gordon has gained vast experience practising law in national law firms in Australia, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Gordon has represented clients in a wide range of legal proceedings including, but not limited to Criminal Law, Civil Law and Family Law.

His main objective for Rebus Legal is to put the interest of the client first, and to achieve the most favourable outcome for individuals as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible, without the need for protracted litigation.

Gordon has long held a strong passion for the law and believes that the law can be used to achieve positive resolutions for his clients.

When working with clients, Gordon shows compassion, initially seeking to understand what is most important to the client, then seeks legal solutions that will best suit them. Communication with clients is paramount, and Gordon provides peace of mind by keeping them informed throughout the process. He is an avid defender of people’s rights and is dedicated to ensuring a fair outcome for all his clients and works hard to achieve the best possible outcome in Court or through negotiations.

Farris Faris

Senior Barrister & Solicitor

Having achieved a Bachelor of Laws (Murdoch University) and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (College of Law), Farris Faris has began an impressive legal career. So far in Farris’ career he has experienced working at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva and positions as an International Human Rights Lawyer.

Farris brings both his experience in a range of legal matters including Civil, Family and Criminal Law and also his expertise in the area of Human rights to the Rebus Legal team.

Admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Farris is also a registered Migration Agent and fluent in Arabic and English.

Farris’ uses his experience, along with his client-focused and empathetic approach to ensure that every one of his clients receives the utmost attention, leading to the best possible outcome.

Farris was a Human Rights lawyer at the Claims Assistance Provider Service (CAPS) in Nauru. During this time, he provided asylum seekers with access to adequate legal advice.

Farris provided assistance to irregular maritime arrivals who were transferred to a regional processing Centre in preparing their claims for refugee status.

Farris also attended hearing at both the Tribunals of Nauru and the Supreme Court of Nauru.

Farris also speaks fluent Arabic. This allows Rebus Legal to bridge language and cultural gaps with their clients.

Jemin Jo

Senior Solicitor & Barrister

Jemin joined Rebus Legal in 2021.

Jemin Jo graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Finance) and was admitted as a lawyer in Western Australia in August 2013.

Jemin has worked in a number of law firms, including a national law firm where he was previously a Senior Associate.

Jemin has extensive experience in civil matters, including dispute resolution, contractual disputes, debt recovery and wills and estates. Jemin frequently attends hearings at various Courts and Tribunals in Western Australia.

Jemin also has experience in criminal and traffic matters and has previously worked as a conveyancer settling transactions of real property. Jemin also speaks fluent Korean.

Through his experience, diligence, preparation and understanding for his clients, Jemin endeavours to obtain the best possible outcome depending on each client’s circumstances.

Dylan Maurice

Solicitor & Barrister

Dylan joined the Rebus Legal team in February 2019, completing his Practical Legal Training work experience. He has since quickly found his feet, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in an array of practice areas including civil, family, criminal, and migration law.

Dylan graduated from the University of Murdoch with a Bachelor of Laws (with Distinction) in 2018. Prior to this, he graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance.

Dylan has a keen interest in employment law. Having previously done work experience with a nationwide union in 2018, Dylan was exposed to an array of employment law matters. It was here where Dylan’s interest developed, as he gained practical experience and witnessed first-hand how the law can help employees in circumstances where inequalities are present; be it in relation to the bargaining power when contracting with employers, or simply to achieve a fairer outcome.

Outside of employment law, Dylan is also passionate about civil, Criminal and family law. He has been able to gain valuable knowledge and experience in both these areas whilst working with the Rebus Legal team.

Dylan is passionate about problem-solving and has a keen eye for detail. He always tries to solve a problem using a number of methods and considers all alternatives. One of the main reasons Dylan was drawn to pursue a career in law is that it provides him with an opportunity to help people, whilst also working on challenging matters.

Liam Takeda

Solicitor

Liam joined Rebus Legal in September 2021 where he completed his Practical Legal Training and gaining experience in the areas of Civil, Family, and Criminal Law.

Liam commenced his studies in a Bachelor of Science and graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Commerce and Juris Doctor. He deals with issues in a scientific and business-like approach, allowing him to tackle the problem objectively while keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Having moved around a lot and experienced living in different countries during his childhood and adulthood, Liam has awareness and understanding of a few different cultures around the world, allowing him to more easily relate to a wide range of people. Liam is bilingual in being able to hold a conversation in Japanese and English with an understanding of Burmese.

Liam has a particular interest in Civil and Criminal law.

Liam entered into the legal practice as knowing the legal system will allow him to efficiently and practically manoeuvre around both simple and complex matters in order to help clients.

Liam believes that clients come first, and adopts a practical, sensible and logical approach in attaining the best possible outcome for his clients.
